Be water

'Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.' - Bruce Lee

What does it mean to "be water"?

Bruce Lee was a martial artist, actor and profoundly deep thinker. The former being what he was most famous for.

In your inability to be like water, where are you fighting life? Where are you resisting life?

Where does it feel like life is happening to you, not for you?

If you take a step back and look carefully, is there an opportunity to move like water through whatever you're facing, be it opportunity or threat?

Being like water doesn't mean getting pushed about. Water is powerful. Riverbeds and canyons are carved by flowing waters. Sometimes gradual and consistent. Sometimes sudden and fierce.

Where do you get to be water?

A few other wise things Bruce Lee said...

'Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.'

'Long-term consistency trumps short-term intensity.'

'In the middle of chaos lies opportunity.'

Seems like this guy knew a thing or two about life. What will you take from him?
